Who We Are

Founded and incorporated in July 2005, Raising Expectations Inc.
is a 501c3 non-profit organization consisting of a group of local DC
artists interested in broadening the creative opportunities for youth
and young adults.  Our founding principle is to encourage and
motivate young people to succeed in every aspect of life.

And through our positive-minded, creative workshops, R.E.
reaches at-risk young people by developing their artistic intellect
and analytical skills.  In the summer of 2007, R.E. included a
special Summer Arts Apprenticeship Program for those students
interested in further developing their talents in a structured and
challenging artistic work environment one-on-one with our
affiliated artists and entrepreneurs..

Focusing on advanced skills in the visual/performing arts arenas,
Raising Expectations Inc. workshops and activities are primarily
for ages 12-22.  Workshops range from wooden sculpture making
to the art of DJ’ing, and from arts healing methods to salsa
lessons.  With a diverse consortium of arts educators in our
consortium, R.E. uplifts the potential of youth and young adults by
offering hands-on, skills-based learning exercises in our arts
enrichment programs.  Using the learning-by-doing practice, R.E.
programs fascinate participants and sharpen their awareness of
the discipline and dedication necessary to achieve their goals.
